Lark Music is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) – one of the UK’s most celebrated orchestras.

As a specialist music insurer, we’ve spent years protecting the instruments and equipment that matter most to musicians. Now, through this collaboration, we’re continuing our commitment to supporting initiatives that nurture emerging talent, champion inclusivity, and create meaningful opportunities for musicians at all levels.

By supporting the BSO and its innovative work, we’re helping to ensure that musicians don’t just have the protection they need, but also the resources and opportunities to flourish, perform, and inspire.

Supporting The Next Generation

We’re proud to support BSO’s Young Associates scheme – an initiative that empowers emerging musicians to lead inspiring community music projects across the South West.

Harry Bassett, Sophia Benton, and Charlotte Foley have joined the BSO team on a seven-month, bursary-supported training programme, gaining hands-on experience delivering music workshops in health and education settings.

From Harry’s work as a trumpet player, composer, and member of Paraorchestra, to Sophia’s groundbreaking achievements as a left-hand alone pianist, and Charlotte’s passion for songwriting and community engagement – these talented musicians are shaping the future of inclusive music-making.

We’re thrilled to champion initiatives that make music accessible to all and look forward to hearing more about their time with the BSO.

Bringing Music to Everyone!

Music should have no barriers. That’s why we’re also proud to support BSO’s Symphony from Scratch, a unique initiative that unites disabled, amateur, and professional musicians to create something truly special.

Last year, players from the National Open Youth Orchestra, BSO Resound, and BSO joined forces with local amateur musicians for a weekend of inclusive orchestral music-making. From hands-on sessions for visually impaired musicians to adapted parts for new instruments, the event proved that symphonic music can—and should—be open to all.

And the best part? There’s another Symphony from Scratch event on the horizon, and we’re excited to see more musicians come together to experience the joy of playing in a large ensemble, breaking down barriers, and celebrating the power of music.  Stay tuned for more details!

Symphony from Scratch: BSO Pros working with amateur musicians

At Lark Music, we believe that musicians should be able to focus on what they love – making music – without having to worry about the unexpected. That’s why we’ve spent years safeguarding the instruments and equipment that are so vital to their craft. But protecting musicians goes beyond insurance. By supporting initiatives like BSO Young Associates and Symphony from Scratch, we are helping to create opportunities for musicians to grow, collaborate, and share their passion with the world.

We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to sharing more as these incredible projects unfold.
